The Small Shepherds Club will be exhibiting a selection of sheep at this year’s Camborne Show. .....more info In 2007 the Camborne Show enjoyed excellent Live music from The Camborne Youth Band and the Great Western Jazz Company The Camborne Youth Band has a very busy schedule of engagements at a variety of venues throughout Cornwall and beyond. They are delighted to be able to provide music and entertainment to an ever-growing number of appreciative listeners wherever they perform. They have achieved a great deal of success on the contest stage. They became Cornish Junior Champions and South West Junior Champions in 2003 and Cornish Junior Champions again in 2004. The highlights of their achievements so far under Alan's direction are, without doubt, their becoming National Junior Brass Band Champions in 2004, 2005 and 2006, National Community Youth Champions in 2007 and playing at an open air concert at Canary Wharf in July 2005. The Great Western Jazz Company a fully rehearsed, professionallly presented band, dedicated to ensuring that functions they play at are both succesful and enjoyable. The band comprises some of the south-west's most experienced jazz musicians, meeting together to play the music they love - the great music from the jazz and swing eras. At the Camborne Show experts in rural activities from all over the area gather together to display their talents, many of which have taken generations of dedication to perfect. Shared knowkedge and carefully guarded trade secrets contribute to the day being a showcase of the truly best in their field. These sctivities willl include a display of Falconry and Sheep and Gun Dog demonstrations During the day trophies will be awarded to the best entries in the categories, Cagebirds, Cattle,Companion Dogs, Pigeons, Poultry, and Goats. The Domestic section covers not only handicraft but cookery and preserves, art, photography, and a childrens section. The judges will have a very tall order to decide the best of the day in such wide ranging sections if last years entries are anything to go by. Some examples from some of the categories can be seen below. Visitors will be able to enjoy displays of livestock of the highest quality such as this prize bull. Last year the competition was very stiff with proud owners displaying some fine examples of breeds in all classes. For the first time last year Goats made a appearance at the Camborne Show, and made such an impact with many visitors and participants who were surprisd at just how beautifull these creatures can be. Dogs are ever popular at the show and Basset Hounds especially liked by owners and admirers alike. If you are interested in owning a pedigree dog such as these or if you an owner who needs advice come and talk dogs with those who share your ethusiasm.
